Overview
CPM is a trial firm with deep experience representing victims of catastrophic fires across California and in Hawaiʻi. We have successfully recovered billions of dollars for thousands fire victims. Led by Frank M. Pitre, our wildfire team focuses on delivering individualized, high-quality representation to every client we serve and to all victims as a whole.
For more than a decade, CPM has pursued public utilities and other responsible parties whose negligence has been alleged to cause devastating fires, including the San Bruno Gas Explosion (2010), Butte Fire (2015), North Bay Fires (2017), Thomas Fire (2017), Woolsey Fire (2018), Camp Fire (2018), Kincade Fire (2019), Dixie Fire (2021), Mill Fire (2022), McKinney Fire (2022); Lahaina Fire (2023); and Eaton Fire (2025).
CPM’s attorneys regularly leading roles in proving liability, managing coordinated proceedings, and in complex wildfire cases. Following PG&E’s bankruptcy, Frank Pitre was elected to represent the interests of individual fire victims as a member of the Tort Claimants Committee. In that role, he helped secured a $ 13.5 billion global settlement for victims of the North Bay Fires and Camp Fire. Today, he serves on the Trust Oversight Committee, which focuses on compensating those same victims.
Our wildfire team in Northern California includes Frank Pitre, Duffy Magilligan, Julie Fieber, Nabilah Hossain, John Thyken, Andrew Britton, Makena-Kala Kershaw, and Lauren Devens. Our Southern California team includes Gary Praglin, Kelly Weil, Carlos Urzua, and Alexa Adalian. Our Hawaiʻi team is led by Cynthia Wong.
