On January 21, 2016, Pete N. McCloskey, Jr. was honored by the National Audubon Society for Environmental Leadership in New York. McCloskey, a Stanford Law graduate is a recipient of the Navy Cross, the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts while a U.S. Marine Officer in Korea. He is one of the country’s great trial lawyers and continues to lead from the front on the environment. In 1970, he served as the Co-Chair of the first Earth Day that launched the environmental movement. McCloskey leads the charge on climate change, oil drilling and pollution.
