Did you purchase low-cost everyday essential goods from Amazon.com in the United States from February 4, 2025 to February 24, 2026?
If so, you may have a claim in a potential class action lawsuit against Amazon.com, Inc., the online retailer and seller of the Amazon Basics private-label product line.
CPM is investigating price increases Amazon imposed on low-cost everyday goods during the period when U.S. import tariffs were in effect. An analysis by the Wall Street Journal found that Amazon raised prices by more than 5% on average across more than 1,200 low-cost household essentials. Over the same period, competing retailers held prices flat or lowered them on the same items. In February 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court declared these tariffs unlawful. Amazon’s executives have acknowledged that tariffs pushed prices up and that Amazon passed specific import charges on to customers in at least some cases. Amazon has since collected roughly $600 million in tariff refunds from the federal government. It has committed to returning only a portion of that money to customers, and only in a “limited set of circumstances,” while keeping the rest.
If you purchased low-cost everyday goods from Amazon in the United States from February 4, 2025 to February 24, 2026, you may have potential claims as a prospective class member. In particular, you may have potential claims if you purchased household essentials sold by Amazon, such as cleaning supplies, kitchenware, storage and organization products, personal care items, or other everyday items.
