On June 30, 2011 the Hon. Claudia Wilken granted final approval to the last settlements in the In re Static Random Access Memory Antitrust Litigation case. The case was headed up by Steve Williams and Joseph Cotchett. The last two settlements — with Samsung and Cypress — bring the total recovery for class members to $76,872,476.99 in this case which alleged a conspiracy to fix the price of static random access memory (SRAM), a critical component of computers, cell phones, and routers. The result was extraordinary given that the United States Department of Justice closed the investigation without any indictments or guilty pleas.
