Overview
Predatory lending has been a widespread financial problem for many Californians. These schemes often target homeowners on fixed incomes or with checkered credit histories and involve abusive lending practices such as high-interest loans, unnecessary fees, and fraudulent steering into commercial loans. The result is often a cycle of debt that puts homeowners’ savings and even their homes at risk.
Our team fights to hold predatory lenders and brokers accountable to protect our clients’ financial security. CPM has filed lawsuits across California against mortgage brokers and lenders who violate state and federal lending laws, exposing borrowers to unconscionable loan terms and the threat of homelessness. In one notable case, CPM secured a preliminary injunction allowing a disabled client to remain in her home while her rights are adjudicated.
