Overview

Theresa E. Vitale is a senior associate at Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, LLP. Her areas of practice include catastrophic injury, wrongful death, fraud, environmental, qui tam, elder abuse, and consumer class actions.  Theresa has represented injured individuals, consumers, employees, whistleblowers and municipalities in a variety of disputes in state and federal court and arbitration proceedings. She was named a Super Lawyers’ Rising Star in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and received the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s Pro Bono Award in 2023 and 2024.

Theresa is Co-Chair of Membership for the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Barristers/Young Attorneys Section. She is also active in her local community and is the Membership Director of TERA (The Eagle Rock Association), a neighborhood non-profit that promotes positive community growth and the beautification of Eagle Rock in Los Angeles.

Theresa received her J.D. with a concentration in public interest law from Loyola Law School. During law school she externed for the ACLU of Southern California with the Immigrants’ Rights Group where she advocated on behalf of unaccompanied minors, worked as a research assistant, and appeared in court as a certified law student with the Juvenile Justice Clinic. Theresa received a B.A. in English and minor in Italian Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. During college, she spent a semester in Siena, Italy.
