CPM has brought a class action lawsuit against Salesforce for copyright infringement. The lawsuit is brought on behalf of a class of authors and alleges that Salesforce copied authors' works for use in their Large Language Model (LLM") to train their AI research engine called "Agentforce." LLMs powered generative AI products such as Salesforce’s require vast amounts of high-quality data for training in order to provide high quality output in response to user prompts. The success of an LLM, such as Salesforce’s models, depends heavily on the quality and contents of the datasets used for training, making copyrighted works an attractive source of high-quality, expressive content," the Complaint states.
