Volkswagen Recall Investigation
CPM is currently investigating the recall of 482,000 Volkswagen (VW) and Audi diesel-powered cars sold in the United States since 2008. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says the vehicles violate clean air standards after VW used “illegal” software to bypass emissions tests. The EPA is accusing VW of using hidden software – called a “defect device” – to dodge clean-air standard during emissions testing. The recall affects the following vehicles:
- 2009-2015 Volkswagen Jetta TDI
- 2009-2015 Volkswagen Beetle TDI
- 2009-2015 Audi A3 TDI
- 2009-2015 Volkswagen Golf TDI
- 2014-2015 Volkswagen Passat TDI
CPM and Frank Pitre served as Co-Lead Counsel for Economic Loss Class Plaintiffs in the Toyota Unintended Acceleration Marketing & Sales Practices Cases which successfully resulted in securing final approval of a $1.5 billion settlement on behalf of class members. Pitre is one of ten members of the Plaintiffs Executive Committee to lead litigation pending in the Southern District of New York on behalf of a nationwide class of consumers against General Motors for safety related defects in over 27 million vehicles.
